Managing Admin Roles
Cannot Promote a Member to Admin
You try to promote a team member to admin, but the option is unavailable or fails.
Solution:
- Verify you are the workspace Owner. Only Owners can promote members to admin.
- Check that the member is already part of the workspace.
- Refresh the page by pressing RefreshCtrl+R (or Cmd+R on Mac).
- Try again.
Admins cannot promote other members to admin. This is a security feature to prevent unauthorized permission escalation without the Owner's knowledge.
Cannot Demote an Admin to Member
You want to demote an admin to member role, but the option is missing or disabled.
Solution:
- Confirm you are the workspace Owner. Only Owners can demote admins.
- Verify you're selecting the correct team member.
- Refresh the page if the option doesn't appear.
You cannot demote yourself if you're the Owner. This is a protection feature to maintain workspace control.
Admin Cannot Change Another Admin's Role
You're an admin trying to change another admin's role, but permissions are denied.
This is expected behavior. Only the workspace Owner can manage admin roles (promote or demote). Admins can only change Member roles, not other Admin roles.
Solution:
Contact your workspace Owner and request they make the admin role change. This prevents admin conflicts and maintains Owner control over critical permissions.
Former Admin Still Sees Admin Features After Demotion
You demoted an admin to member, but they still see admin-only features in their interface.
Solution:
- Ask them to hard refresh their browser using RefreshCtrl+Shift+R (or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac).
- Have them sign out completely and sign back in.
- Close all browser tabs and reopen the app.
- Clear browser cache if the UI persists.
- Wait a few seconds for permission sync to complete.
- Contact support if admin access persists after 5 minutes.
Permission changes are immediate on the server but may take a moment to sync to the user's browser session.
Need to Change Workspace Ownership
You need to transfer the Owner role to a different team member (for example, the original owner left the company).
The Owner role cannot be transferred through the UI. This is a permanent security feature.
Solution:
Contact Firebuzz support with the following information:
- Current Owner's email address
- Desired new Owner's email address
- Proof of authorization to transfer ownership
- Business justification for the change
Support will verify the request and process the ownership transfer manually.
